About Me

Bonnie Swinehart: Upon completing a children’s writing course through the Institute of Children’s Literature, I was published in the children’s publication, Nature Friend. I furthered my writing education majoring in Mass Communication/Journalism. While in college I served as a writer and assistant editor of the campus newspaper. I served as a public relations assistant with GreenWorks.TV before graduating, which included a weekly clip for a state government publication and a column for a newspaper in Canton, Ohio. The organization’s web content also featured my writing. I then took a position as a writer and editor of a new publication, Watershed Weekly with distributions of about 20,000 people on a weekly basis. I was honored with a governor’s award for this publication. As director of communications for a nonprofit medical organization, I sharpened my skills and forged into mass media with spots on radio and television. A publishing company that produced three weekly newspapers gave me experience as a fulltime staff writer. I now write a weekly column for the same company and have returned to my first love, writing for children.
